Quick overview
- Pick a Short, pick a calendar day, hit schedule: Reels Studio posts it as an Instagram Reel on that day.
- Title, description, hashtags from YouTube tags and the thumbnail as cover all carry over automatically.
- Not a mockup: a real Reel went live at 5 p.m. untouched, with the comment added a minute later.
- $0 Cost: free and open source
- 5 p.m. Reel went live with no manual action
- 1 min Delay before the auto comment is posted
What happened
Reels Studio lists all your Shorts straight from YouTube. You click one, click a day in the calendar and schedule it. At your publish time it goes live on Instagram with the title, description and hashtags built from the YouTube tags, and the YouTube thumbnail as the cover. A minute later your comment appears under the Reel.
The Short ends on the creator's real Instagram feed: the Reel went out at 5 p.m. and nobody touched it.
Why it matters
Repurposing Shorts to Reels by hand means downloading, re-uploading and retyping captions for every clip. Here a whole week of Reels is planned in a few clicks from one calendar, and the code is open source on GitHub, so you can check exactly what it does.
